Privacy Policy

This page describes information used by Brick to Brick's website, newsletter form, optional beginner survey and contact arrangements. You can read articles without submitting a newsletter subscription or survey. We do not sell personal information. External websites linked from an article have their own information practices.

The details below distinguish information you choose to submit from technical information processed when a service is used. For questions about your information or an access or deletion request, use the contact page. Do not include passwords, payment details or an unnecessary medical history in a privacy enquiry.

When you submit the newsletter form, the service receives the email address you enter and a source label identifying the signup location on the site. The subscription is stored through Supabase with a creation timestamp. The form does not ask for your name or training history.

The newsletter endpoint also uses the connecting IP address supplied by the hosting service for request rate limiting. This is separate from the subscription record. Its rate-limit routine removes entries older than two hours when the routine runs; that implementation is not a guarantee of deletion at an exact two-hour deadline. Contact us if you want to ask about a subscription or request removal. Newsletter messages provide an unsubscribe route.

The site loads Google Analytics to understand page use and interactions. It may use cookies and process technical information such as pages visited, device information and approximate location. The implementation records categories of interactions such as starting a tool, newsletter submission and internal navigation. Newsletter email addresses and individual survey answers are not included in those event calls.

Changing browser cookie settings or using available browser tracking controls can affect analytics collection. Clearing browser storage can also remove locally saved preferences. Visiting a page and submitting a form are separate actions; blocking analytics does not itself delete a newsletter subscription.

The survey asks fixed-choice questions about experience, target distance, available training time, budget, concerns, equipment and first-race outcome. It stores a survey version and consent timestamp with the answers. It does not request a name, email address or free-text response.

Responses are stored privately. Any publication of research based on them requires an owner privacy review and anonymised aggregate presentation. Small groups can create identification risks even without names, so a table of answers should not automatically be treated as safe to publish.

For abuse prevention, the survey service hashes the connecting IP address with a configured salt and uses that value in a separate rate-limit table. The raw IP address is not stored with survey answers. The routine removes rate-limit records older than two hours when it runs. Because survey responses do not contain a direct contact identifier, locating one particular response later may be difficult.

The finish-time and race-nutrition calculations run in the browser using the values you enter. Those calculation functions do not submit the values as a form response. General page and interaction analytics can still operate while you use a tool. A newsletter form shown below a calculator is a separate submission.

If you email the address on our contact page, you send the contents of that message and your email information through email services. Share only what is needed for the request. If you follow a retailer, organiser, source or affiliate link, the destination receives the visit under its own policies; a link from Brick to Brick does not make that service part of this privacy notice.

You may choose not to subscribe, skip the optional survey, adjust browser controls, use the newsletter's unsubscribe route, and contact us about information you have submitted. Include the service involved and only enough context to identify the record—for example, the subscription email address—while avoiding unrelated personal information. We may need clarification to locate the relevant record and assess a request.

Survey answers do not include a name or email address, so locating one particular response may not be possible from a privacy email alone. Analytics controls in a browser affect future collection in that browser; they do not unsubscribe an email address or erase a record held by a form service. Use the contact page for a request, and describe whether it concerns a newsletter subscription, survey response, or analytics question. For general website use, read the terms of use.

This notice should be revisited when collection practices or service providers change. The update date records the review of this page; it does not claim that every provider setting or retention period has changed on that date.
